I finally bought AirPod Pros.

Why did I wait so long?

”Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without.” — Confucius

Introduction

Before swapping over to the Apple ecosystem, I was very much engrained in the Samsung world. I had a S20, the Galaxy Watch, and the Galaxy Buds. When I transitioned over, I purchased an iPhone and Apple Watch, but never replaced my earbuds, until now.

I’ve never considered myself to be much of an audiophile, but I do like nice sound quality. In the past, I have purchased and used Nuraphones and Beyerdynamic DT 990’s in addition to my Galaxy Buds. Both of those as over-the-ear headphones go are fantastic in my opinion. The Nuraphones are a little gimmicky, but they deliver on the bass and their equalizer does an impressive job of ‘personalizing’ music. While the Beyerdynamic DT 990’s are great all around headphones, the cabled life just wasn’t for me.

I loved my Galaxy Buds. They sounded fine, they worked with every device I connected them with, and they weren’t oddly shaped. Then, tragically, I forgot them outside overnight, and it rained.

Deciding which AirPods to buy.

I knew after the death of my Galaxy Buds that I was going to get AirPods as a replacement. I hadn’t decided if I wanted to go with the regular AirPods, the AirPod Pros, or wait it out and see if Apple announced AirPod 3s during their event.

I care about sound quality and design more than anything else. While I think I could get used to the longer AirPods, the AirPod Pros design is just cleaner. The addition of ANC also helps make the choice a bit easier, but I still struggled to rationalize the cost of the Pros versus the regular AirPods.

Then, Amazon forced my hand. I had been watching prices of the multiple varieties of AirPods and saw Amazon was offering the Pros for 179.99. I took advantage of this deal and had them in hand the next day.

First Impressions

Upon opening the box, I was greeted with the AirPod Pros, front and center. Underneath the case was a pull tab that once removed had the manual and charging cable…
